I’ve said it many times before.  I love bread.

When I made this artisan bread, I instantly knew that I was hooked on this recipe.  I also immediately started thinking of new variations of this recipe.

For this one, I used two of my favorite things…garlic and parmesan.

Garlic Parmesan Artisan Bread (adapted from Jo Cooks)

-6 1/2 cups all purpose flour

-3 cups warm water

-1 1/2 Tablespoons yeast

-1 Tablespoon salt

-2 teaspoons garlic powder

-1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Put all of the flour in the bowl of your stand mixer.  In a separate bowl, mix together the water, yeast, garlic powder and salt.  Using the dough hook attachment, add the liquid mixture to the flour and mix until dough starts to come together.  When this happens, add parmesan cheese and mix until everything is combined.  When combined, (this will be a super sticky dough) transfer to a large greased bowl.  Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap.  Poke two small holes in the plastic wrap with a toothpick to allow the gases to escape.  Allow dough to rise in a warm place for two hours.

After two hours you are going to be ready to shape your dough.  Before shaping, line your baking stone or cooking sheet with parchment papers.  Then, flour your hands liberally and divide the dough in to two pieces.  If you need to add more flour to your hands, do so.   Shape each piece and place on your parchment lined baking stone or cooking sheet.   You can make whatever shape you desire.  I went for circles because they are easiest!  :)  Sprinkle some flour onto the top of your shaped dough.  Allow to rise for 30 more minutes in a warm place.

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.  Place 1 1/2 cups of water in a cake pan (or other oven safe pan) and place on the bottom rack of your oven. (This will help your bread get super crispy) Then, cut slits in the top of your loaves.  When oven in preheated, place dough in your oven for 30-35 minutes on your oven’s middle rack.

When dough is done, allow to cool on wire racks.

Enjoy!

I hope you are having a fabulous Monday…I’m hanging with another sick kiddo today.  Is spring here yet?  I need the sicknesses to be out of our house!  So, a little bit of TLC and super sanitizing is on the agenda today!

Have a great day!
