I hope all of the mommas had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
My hubby and girls went and got me Starbucks and these pretty flowers yesterday morning! It was a great surprise!
Other than that, our weekend was full of great eats and a bit of relaxation!
Over the course of the weekend, we were able to plant these…
Meet the president….
Go on a jungle safari…
And make a whole bunch of yumminess!!!
It was finally skewer time at our house! These are one of my favorite summer meals! They are delish and always so versatile.
Here’s the recipe I used today!
Honey Soy Chicken Skewers
-1/3 cup of honey
-1/3 cup of vegetable oil
-1/4 cup of soy sauce
-1/4 teaspoon of pepper
-2 cloves of garlic
Combine all ingredients (I ran my garlic through my garlic press before I added it! You could just mince if you don’t have a press!). Marinate chicken in the sauce for a few hours. Then skewer with your favorite veggies! I used zuchhini, squash, green pepper and pineapple! Then grill until the meat is cooked though!
You’ll end up with pretty skewers like these!
Honestly, I can’t think of anything better than grilled pineapple. I love the stuff!
Do you make skewers? What is your favorite thing to add to them?
One bad thing happened out of all of this goodness though. I was cutting up everything and cut myself.
It was not fun, but, thankfully, we had enough Hello Kitty band aids in the house to make me feel better.
I hope you had a fabulous weekend! And have a very Happy Monday!

Awwww, except for the finger incident, it sounds like a fun wknd! Hope you had an awesome Mothers Day
Grilled onions on skewers makes me happy. I could eat a whole skewer of just onions!
Glad you had such a nice weekend- happy Mother’s Day!
Sounds like a wonderful weekend – glad you had such a nice mothers day!
The girls i nanny for always patch me up in band-aids like that!
Ah! I just ran out of Hello Kitty bandaids and now have sparkly ones. True story. I think they’re fun.
Happy belated mother’s day! So glad to see that you had such a nice, relaxing day!
I love adding some kind of kielbasa or spicy sausage on skewers…thanks for the reminder that is is kabob season!
Yum, I love grilling season. Can’t wait to fire ours up because you’re right: grilled pineapple is the best thing on earth.
I love making skewers and sometimes when I’m lazy I’ll cook them in the broiler instead. I like to add pineapple and onions with steak or chicken.
Sounds like a fabulous Mom’s day weekend! I’ve also got spices planted and growing! Can’t wait to use them – never grown my own before!
Ha! Love the Hello Kitty Band-Aids. I always rotate between Hello Kitty and SpongeBob!
Happy Mother’s Day!! Sorry about that cut, but your skewers look delicious!! And the flowers your hubby bought you are beautiful!
The skewers look delicious and would be welcome on my table. I’m relatively new to your blog and don’t often comment, but I wanted you
to know how much I enjoy my visits here. You’ve created a lovely spot for your readers to spend some time. I always enjoy my visits. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary

Skewers look great! I’ll have to try that marinade.
Glad you had a great mothers day!
I love those band aids!! Too cute.

i love kabobs….in fact, some just might be on the menu this week. thanks for the inspiration!
Happy Belated Mother’s Day. I’m currently rocking the band-aid look too
Looks like such a fun weekend! Hello Kitty makes everything better.
Happy belated Momma Day! I love making kabobs – but sorry you cut yourself! Now that our kids are grown, I forgot all about the character bandaids – I’ll have to pick up some fun ones again!
Looks like so much fun! I got flowers and beer for Mother’s Day–lol! I love kabobs–our grill isn’t working properly right now, we need to fix that ASAP! Sorry you cut yourself! I’ve had more burns and cuts ever since I started food blogging!
Ouch! Sweet bandaids, though.
Looks like you guys had a great weekend!
Love the flowers! And the bandaid haha. The closest I’ve had to a different type of bandaid was once my mom accidentally bought black ones… that was pretty funny, seeing as how the regular colored ones are even too tan for my skin
I haven’t used a printed one since elementary school!
