My husband is in love….

…with this.

I’ve been completely and utterly replaced.

This is his new love.  A grill.

Our other grill was on its last leg and we needed a new one badly.  So, we’ve had this for two days.  Each night that the Good Eats Guy has come home he wants to know what’s for dinner immediately.  He wants to make sure that he can grill it.  I think he feels like a new man since he got a new grill.  I’m honestly shocked that he isn’t sleeping on the deck with it.

So, I decided that I was going to make his day and we’d have some steaks for dinner.  I seriously thought he was going to die from excitement.

And on top of the fact that he got to grill steaks…I made some herb focaccia bread on Sunday afternoon to go along with them.

He was one happy dude.

So, I left the man and his grill alone.  I cut up bread and finished the other sides we were having for dinner.

Here’s the recipe for the bread while I’m thinking about it….

Herb Foccacia Bread

-1 pkg. active dry yeast

-1 cup warm water

-2 Tablespoons olive oil, divided

-1 1/2 teaspoon salt

-1 teaspoon sugar

-1 teaspoon garlic powder

-1 teaspoon each of oregano, rosemary, and thyme

-1/2 teaspoon dried basil

-dash of pepper

-2 to 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

-1/4 cup shredded mozzarella

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.  Add 1 Tbsp. oil, salt, sugar, garlic powder, herbs, pepper and 1 1/2 cups flour.  Beat until smooth.  Stir in remaining flour to form a soft dough (this will be sticky).

For the mixing part, I used the regular beater on my mixer.  Then after the dough was formed, I changed the attachment to the dough hook and let the mixer do the work for me and knead the bread until it was smooth.  You can also do this part by hand…it will take you 6-8 minutes.  Place in a greased bowl, turning once so all sides are greased.  Cover and let rise for 1 hour.

Punch dough down.  Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

Then, shape into a rectangle.  I do this on top of a sheet of parchment paper…that way I don’t have to worry about moving the dough to a greased pan.  Cover and let rise until doubled….about 30 minutes.  After rising happens, take your fingers and make dimples in the dough.  Brush the dough with the remaining olive oil.  Sprinkle with cheese.

You can also add sliced tomatoes, but I like it better without them!  Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.  Remove to a wire rack to cool.

Devour!

This bread is seriously amazing.  I’m not a perfect bread maker by any means, but I love the way that this turns out!

I also added these cute, adorable, fabulous teeny tiny (oh, so CUTE) potatoes from Trader Joe’s to dinner.

I just tossed them with olive oil and some seasonings and roasted them.

And finally…dinner was served!

YUM!  No meal makes me happier than a steak, potatoes, and bread.  Seriously.

I could eat this every day.  I may start making this bread on a weekly basis.

Now I am off to find some sort of dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth!  And to hope that my husband isn’t sleeping on the deck with his new love!  :)

Hope you had a great Tuesday!
